From the safe space found within the seams of a worn-out jacket to a ring that tells the story of three generations of women, every item of clothing holds a history.
Stories From Our Wardrobe is a cross-cultural dialogue between the next generation of creatives from Singapore and Hong Kong. Students from the Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion programme at LASALLE College of the Arts and the BA (Hons) in Visual Arts programme at Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University have transformed personal memories into tangible objects, creating over 50 distinct zines inspired by a single item from their wardrobe.
Within these pages, you will find visual stories of love and loss, tender moments of self-discovery, and the powerful journey of forging an identity. This exhibition underscores the zine as an intimate medium for personal storytelling and collaborative publishing.
Presented at The Fashion Pulpit, home to the Circular Fashion Hub, the collection explores the power of garments beyond their material, reminding us of the memories they hold. It prompts us to find value not in the new, but in the narratives we carry with us every day. We invite you to come and read their stories.
