Event details

Born from a shared love of printed matter, School of Fashion lecturers Pixie Tan and Xingyun Shen (Clothes Press) present a collection of publications and zines exploring fashion and the everyday.

Curious about how fashion translates through printing, binding, publishing and circulation? Come by, take a break from the to-do lists, and share a moment browsing, reading and chatting with us on the grass.

Bring a snack, a friend or even a publication you’ve made. Let’s read together!

Pixie Tan is a researcher, art director and educator whose practice explores the intersection of community publishing, social engagement and cultural imagination. Drawing from her background in fashion, spatial and graphic design, she facilitates collaborations that propose new ways of seeing, playing and making meaning together.

She has worked with organisations like the Asian Civilisation Museum, Both Sides Now, and the National Youth Council to design experiences that capture and share collective wisdom. Committed to uplifting and demystifying the local design industry, she co-founded the ground-up initiative Don’t Mind If and published its inaugural industry report to bridge gaps within the community. In 2023, the publication won an SG Mark in the Visual Design Category and received a prestigious Special Mention in the top award category.

As an educator, Pixie’s teaching philosophy emphasises fluidity, adaptability and care. A firm believer in liberatory education, she advocates for experiential learning and reflective assessment, guiding students to critically engage with the world and shape their futures.
