As part of the Zurich Meets Singapore 2026 programme, LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore, and Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) present a collaborative event exploring how emerging AI technologies are transforming artistic practice, cultural production and creative education.
Inspired by contemporary research and creative practice at the intersection of immersive arts, performance, film, technology and human experience, the programme examines AI as a cultural force reshaping how we create, perceive and imagine the future.
Bringing together artists, designers, researchers, educators, students and members of the Swiss delegation, the event creates a space for dialogue across cultures and disciplines. Through a speculative design workshop, keynote presentations and open discussion, participants will explore how emerging AI technologies are reshaping creative practice, research and higher education, while reflecting on how these developments are interpreted through diverse cultural contexts, artistic traditions and social values.
The plenary discussion, Technology as Culture: Creative Practice in the Age of AI, is open to all.
Prof Dr Christopher Salter and Dr Manuel Flurin Hendry will offer two keynote presentations exploring contemporary developments in immersive media, artificial intelligence and creative research.
Rather than focusing on the technical capabilities of AI, the discussion asks how these technologies are becoming part of our cultural, social and sensory environments, and what this means for artistic practice, higher education and society. Respondents from LASALLE will join the conversation before opening the discussion to the audience.
Designed as an open and participatory conversation rather than a conventional panel, the plenary invites dialogue between speakers and audience, creating opportunities for collective reflection on the future role of AI in art, design and higher education.
